Hi i have the cameras installed already, but my dvr (ds-7204hqhi-f1) is this ok to use instead? ie same connections etc
Answer: This is an NVR so the camera connections need to be ethernet RJ45. The DVR you already have, 7204HQHI uses cameras with a BNC connector. So no it isn't suitable for your existing cameras. -

Why is it so noisy? Any way to reduce this?
Answer: If the noise is a whirring noise either from the fan or the hard drive, it cannot be quietened unless it is excessive noise. It usually sounds like a computer, as that is what it basically is similar to. These NVRs are not recommended to be placed near a TV or in a bedroom due to the noise. However, if it is louder than a computer, it is recommended to get it checked. -
