Answer: It comes in a box with a plastic sleeve that slides over the entire box. The knife is held in place by a preformed plastic mould so that it cannot slide or move around. I have ordered more than 20 knives and have never had a problem with the packaging. -

Answer: Just measured it for you: in the 7 1/2" length it tapers very gradually from 1 1/8" to the point.
