The KODAK REELZ 8mm & Super 8 Films Digitizer Converter is a good device for digitizing old films to digital MP4 files. The device captures frame by frame while audio is longitudinal down the edge of the film. The converter can take multiple film types depending upon the size of the SD Card. The videos produced by the Reelz are adequate, but could be improved. The unit's biggest problem is the take-up motor that fails, causing the device to turn off after a second or two of turning it on. The unit is made in China, and is not designed to scan 16mm film. Unlike other brands, this scanner scans negative 8mm film, but it doesn't reverse the image for a positive display. It outputs a single .mp4 movie file for each session. As for scanning sound, it is necessary to capture the audio from a regular projector using computer software.
