Answer: Yes, do not use Mucinex DM if you are currently taking a prescription monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) or within 2 weeks of stopping the MAOI drug. Consult a doctor before use if you have persistent or chronic cough or if the cough is accompanied by excessive phlegm. Stop use and consult a doctor if the cough lasts more than 7 days, comes back, or is accompanied by fever, rash, or persistent headache.
