Does this coaster prevent water damage to wooden tables?
Answer: Yes, the coaster seems to be pretty effective at keeping water off the table when you have a glass of ice on it due to it being raised and the surface tension of water being maintained on its surface. However, if your glass sweats a lot, you may get some drops hitting the table. Use it with caution, especially if you have fine wood surfaces you are trying to protect. -

Will the water go through the little holes on the coaster?
Answer: The way the little holes work makes it difficult for water to go through the coaster. A paper towel remained dry when placed underneath the coaster with an iced glass on it. However, leaving the iced glass for a longer period may cause the paper towel to get damp. Use it with caution, especially if you have fine wood surfaces you are trying to protect.
