The Avid BB5 Mechanical Disc Brake is a single piston caliper brake that is suitable for replacing factory mechanical disc brakes. It comes with pads and a tensioner already installed but only one caliper which is the brake itself for one wheel. It can be used on front or rear and does not require additional rotor or brackets. It fits perfectly and replaces the factory disc rotor. However, for proper alignment, it requires tuning which can be a bit tricky. Customers have expressed satisfaction with the product, noting its Tri-align feature that allows proper pad alignment and simple installation. The vendor is professional and a pleasure to do business with. The brake works great as a replacement and is solid SRAM inside brakes. However, some customers have complained that it did not include the mounting hardware, rotor or rotor bolts as advertised, which caused some inconvenience. Also, the picture used is misleading as it shows the complete assembly including the mounting bracket which is NOT included and costs an additional $23.
