Answer: No the Idler pulley is slightly smaller on the 2nd and 3rd gen subarus and they changed the thread pattern on all the bolts for the timing belt/waterpump assembly on the 2nd gens idk about 3rd gen for that though. -

Does this fit a 2008 Subaru Forester? It looks like it would but it would be encouraging if someone can verify.
Answer: Yes, but you can get a kit that also includes the long adjustment bolt and other nuts too for just a couple dollars more. Look up Dorman 917-124 Idler Pully Adjustment Bolt Kit. Then you’ll have some extra parts, just in case. My pulley also disintegrated, so you might want to put in a new one while you’ve got it all apart. Got that at the Subaru dealership, fairly inexpensive abt $15 if I remember right. Good luck! -
