Decide whether you want to use a mat or not. Some frame choices come with more than one mat. A 16x20 frame with mat looks like it would be right, but double check what size the mat is. If it's for 11x14, then it should be right. -

Answer: They look like greyish/brown finished wood that has been overpainted with a little white, then most of it wiped off, then sealed with a satin varnish. They are very nice.
