The Shure SM58 is a dynamic mic that is universal and ubiquitous, designed to produce vocal sounds (musical or spoken) with faithfulness to the source while projecting that source sound at the highest amplitude without distortion. It is made to stand up under the most rough-and-tumble physical abuse every week for many years on end. The dynamic nature of the mic makes it great for live performances. The microphone does not need a battery, but you do need to connect it to an amplifier that has a mic XLR connection. The Shure SM58S Vocal Microphone (with an On/Off Switch) is not made in China but in Mexico. The mic reduces feedback even in close proximity to speakers, and the sound is clear.
